When developing Legrand CRM we took the view that Users do not want a CRM application to replace Outlook, but rather want to see a CRM application that works closely with Microsoft Outlook. A symbiotic co-existence with Outlook is exactly what you get with Legrand CRM. The role of Legrand CRM is to be a central repository of all business information: company and contact data, sales opportunities, marketing activities, calendar, etc…
Microsoft Outlook, on the other hand, may contain both personal data and fragments of business information, and will continue to be the email application of choice for most users. Legrand CRM makes it very easy for you to keep using Microsoft Outlook for email and for management of your personal tasks and calendar, while at the same time enabling you to transfer business data to and from Legrand CRM.
Users can quickly transfer contacts, calendar events and tasks to Outlook via a simple selection then using the right click function list to 'Transfer Selected to Outlook'. Similarly, data can be brought into either Legrand via the MS Outlook tab within Legrand which accesses to Outlook data of the local user or via the Legrand Outlook Addin which installs with Legrand, allowing user to transfer emails into their database directly from Outlook.

Specifically, Legrand CRM's ability to interact with Microsoft Outlook includes the following functionality:
Transfer Contacts from Outlook to Legrand CRM, or from Legrand CRM to Outlook.
Send emails from within Legrand CRM via Microsoft Outlook.
Transfer selected emails from Outlook to Legrand CRM.
Transfer Tasks from Legrand CRM to Outlook, and back.
Transfer Appointments from Legrand CRM to Outlook, and back.
MS Outlook and Legrand Synchronization
Legrand CRM allows quick synchronization of MS Outlook Contacts, Events and Tasks.
Information can be transferred to and from Outlook directly from Legrand CRM.
Transfer to and from Outlook and handheld devices
Calendar events and tasks can easily be transferred to and from Microsoft Outlook. Using the Australian developed SyncIT, it's also possible to directly transfer information from Legrand to PocketPC devices
What about automatic importing of e-mail into the CRM?
With the amount of junk e-mail that's floating around, we decided against the automatic importing of e-mail into the CRM system.

With the bulk import feature of the MS Outlook Add-In, it's possible to import large amounts of e-mail, but with the added advantage of being able to decide which e-mail is copied across.
Does Legrand CRM automatically transfer all incoming emails into the CRM database?
It is a question that is often asked. The answer is, no and for an important reason. It does not make sense to automatically transfer all incoming email into the CRM database.
Why Not? Because the CRM database is intended to be a central repository of all important business communications, not more and not less. Of all the email messages you receive every day how many are significant enough that they warrant being recorded into the CRM database? Legrand enables users to define the emails that are store in their CRM database, corresponding to particular contacts and/or companies.
By the time you've taken out all the spam, the newsletters, the internal emails, the simple Yes/No emails, you are left with 10% to 20% of the daily emails that you really would want to store in the centralized CRM database.
Hence, the approach we have taken at Legrand Software is to make it very easy to selectively transfer only those emails that are important enough for record keeping in the CRM database.
